Bravery and Bananas
The forecast for today was not so good, but at 8.30 breakfast it looked as good as ever. we had even nailed down the round table. The skiers tootled off and I headed for the blankie for a bit. Vicky returned around 11.30 having had a good mornings skiing, tired, and not realising it was so early? Never mind. We had plans to find the real Venosc. We caught the gondola down and it was almost busy, with a couple of people in front and behind. At the bottom we found this, which I had totally missed the other day.
Looks like we’re headed in the right direction
We followed a narrow steep path up to a very small town with narrow streets and not much sign of life. We did find a lovely cafe however, guarded by a big dog. We weren’t sure it was open but there were quite a few people inside enjoying Raclette. We just wanted crepes and they didn’t disappoint
Banana, chocolate, and home made cream
Venosc honey
Once replenished we retraced our steps, pausing only at the episcerie of terror
Scary
Meanwhile, up the mountain, Alex was having to have a proper dinner as he couldn’t finish off vickys.
Dinner, or ski?
And back in Venosc, Another narrow street. And Another day fighting to get these blooming blog photos in order!
Also today.
Kathy went too close to the edge of the piste, And because of poor light fell off. Luckily she landed on the piste below and just continued skiing along. She probably looked such a pro.
TWPAMJ pushed in the chairlift queue. So what, I hear you ask. Surely that’s the done thing. Maybe so, but not if the queue is composed mainly of blind skiers and their guides.
To make up for it Chris showed extreme bravery in rescuing a mans skis on a black run. The man is eternally grateful and will probably mention Chris in his will.
They skied down Kathy’s favourite run in resort, in fact it’s one of her top ten favourite things of all time. Unfortunately, the chairlift at the bottom is THE most evil chairlift in the world. It comes around at the speed of light, whacks you in the shin (Ian is carrying an injury that may put him out for the season) before pitching you forward so fast that if you don’t hang on you get tossed off the mountain. Ian was so afraid that he tried taking up the whole chair, thus causing Kathy to come close to ejection.
TWPAMJV all skied the Valley of the Giants. The moguls are now completly Gone. Alex and Chris held a moments silence in respect.
Kathy saw a man drop a banana on a black run, but did not try to save it. She will not be mentioned in his will.
Kathy and Alex found a tunnel
Alex had a nasty fall at the bottom of a black. This however, is a fall he had while standing still.
Proof positive of falling
In the afternoon it started to snow a bit, but the skiers stayed out almost till afternoon tea. They had all really enjoyed the day. After tea, bath, pointless, we played yatzee again, where vicky got another two yatzees, giving her an almost unassailable lead. Kathy’s or Alex’s luck didn’t hold however, And both are at the bottom of the leaderboard.
Kathy looking happy, before things went downhill
At tea we consumed our free bottle of Prosecco, which was a very nice one, before the little ones all went to bed. Us oldies, however, are made of sterner stuff, and we stayed up late listening to the girl from reception sing, accompanied by the barman on guitar.
Tomorrow is the last day, and also the day we find out what ungodly hour we need to be up to catch the bus.

Poor Alex. I hope he didn’t hurt himself.
